This is what bliss tastes like…

We had some relatives in from out of town this past weekend and I was in charge of making a dessert. I hold this role in the highest honour, which is why, when one of my desserts don’t turn out, I take it to heart. Is there anything more frustrating than to find out that you’ve burnt the cookies you’ve been working on all afternoon? Or that your French macarons are sticking to the paper? Nothing comes to mind.

Alas, this happened on Saturday. I made cinnamon buns with a new recipe, and they did not rise. Not one bit. They weren’t fluffy. They weren’t gooey. Nada. (that’s why I cropped them out of the above photo… no hard feelings)
